Songsalive!® is a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing, supporting, educating and promoting songwriters and composers worldwide. Founded in 1997 by Gilli Moon and Roxanne Kiely, in Sydney Australia, Songsalive! is run by volunteers - songwriters for songwriters. Established with now over 20 chapters around the world, and over 35 chapter coordinators, Songsalive! is run by volunteer songwriters for songwriters. gilli moon writes the music for new Musical, MATREYA, and the first show is performed at the Mint , Los Angeles. "Matreya", a rock opera, is an original musical play written by Jayne DeMente, founder & director of Women's Heritage Project (a grassroots program to fund women's research) and local rock star, Gilli Moon (founder of Warrior Girl Music). This event benefits "women in the arts" for both non profit projects. (More details about the musical and buy the single) gilli moon co-produced (with Gaia Rocks) Females On Fire, the Los Angeles Women's Music Festival in Los Angeles, attracting 3000 people, on Saturday 25th, August 2007 and it was a huge success! Celebrating women in music and the men and women who love them, Females On Fire - The Los Angeles Women's Music Festival, featured more than 100 artists and performers from around the world, including female headline acts and an eclectic array of female singer/songwriters and female-fronted bands representing all styles and genres of music. Sophie B. Hawkins headlined. Also included were poets and spoken word artists, comedians, as well as vendor and exhibitor booths, children's activities, workshops, vegan and organic food vendors, healing arts, pet adoptions and more. Proceeds of this year's festival benefited animal rescue organizations. Check out Females On Fire, a gilli moon project for female artists. For 12 weeks, Oct - Dec 2003, gilli toured with Eric IDLE, most known for one of the boys from Monty Python.... now all grown up! The Cast, including gilli moon, and Eric Idle, delivered his Greedy Bastard Tour (a great night of music and comedy) across the United States - 49 shows - to 1000+ seater venues stretching from Virginia Beach to Montreal on the East Coast, and Vancouver to Phoenix on the West Coast. It's official! Eric has now publishing a book of his online diary entries of that tour, through Harper Collins. @ SIN-E 150 Attorney Street, New York City Tuesday September 2, 2003, as an artist inspired by the works of Jeff Buckley, gilli moon was invited by the Estate of Jeff Buckley to perform at a special evening at NYC's Sin'e. The evening was in honor of rising musical talents, a documentary film preview of Jeff Buckley of his acoustic years in New York, and to celebrate the end of a 10-year wait for the commercial release of Jeff Buckley Live at Sin-e - Legacy Edition, a deluxe 2-CD package of 157 minutes of music plus an 11-minute DVD. WWW.JEFFBUCKLEY.COM In 2003 gilli began to combine her music (which she had been focusing on for almost 10 years) and her love of theatre. She created her first One Woman Show which is a 1 hour music, song and monologue show about her life as an artist, woman, troubadour and adventurer. For this she toured the United States 3 times and Australia with her One Woman Show and released a CD called "Woman" as part of the project. She has been invited to put on her One Woman Show on Broadway in 2004. 2003 proved to be the year of the warriorgirl, with 3 Tours right across the United States. March 03 saw gilli Tour the South West, including Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana. June, she taught and performed in Idaho; In August and September was her first East Coast Tour covering New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Tennessee. In collaboration with tribe Records, Jessica Christ, the music project fronted by gilli moon starts recording in the studio on the album "Perfect Wordz". Hollywood shows are sold out, to a standing room only audience, while gilli tries on a new direction with a very controversial performance and subject. |
