After a 10 year friendship, gilli was informed that her friend Deb Flanagan was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). gilli moon's non-profit organization for songwriters, Songsalive!, celebrates 10 years at a standing room only, successful show and party at the Mint, Los Angeles, December 2008. Songsalive!® is a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing, supporting, educating and promoting songwriters and composers worldwide. Founded in 1997 by Gilli Moon and Roxanne Kiely, in Sydney Australia, Songsalive! is run by volunteers - songwriters for songwriters. Established with now over 20 chapters around the world, and over 35 chapter coordinators, Songsalive! is run by volunteer songwriters for songwriters. Through our grassroots international efforts, we’ve put a stamp on what “global community” truly is and it’s the type of community that is definitely needed in this ever changing music business where songwriting can be a very isolating experience and career. www.songsalive.org gilli moon co-produced (with Gaia Rocks) Females On Fire, the Los Angeles Women's Music Festival in Los Angeles, attracting 3000 people, on Saturday 25th, August 2007 and it was a huge success! Celebrating women in music and the men and women who love them, Females On Fire - The Los Angeles Women's Music Festival, featured more than 100 artists and performers from around the world, including female headline acts and an eclectic array of female singer/songwriters and female-fronted bands representing all styles and genres of music. Sophie B. Hawkins headlined. Also included were poets and spoken word artists, comedians, as well as vendor and exhibitor booths, children's activities, workshops, vegan and organic food vendors, healing arts, pet adoptions and more.
